It is important for primary producers, small businesses and non-profit organisations to make sure their property is ready for the risk of cyclones, storms, flooding and bushfires.

Prepare your property for disaster
- Reduce potential hazards on your property and carry out any home, farm or business maintenance that may be made worse by a disaster event
- Check your insurance is up to date, fit for purpose and you know what you're covered for
- Have an emergency and evacuation plan in place, including having an emergency kit stored in an accessible location
- Plan alternatives for loss of power, access or communications
- Ensure important identity, insurance and financial documents are stored in a safe place and create back ups of these documents
- Know who your local QRIDA Regional Area Manager is
If you need to apply for disaster assistance from QRIDA make sure you have these items ready:
- Photos of damage caused by the disaster event
- Personal identification documents such as drivers licence, Medicare card, passport and birth certificate
- Rates notices or lease agreements for your property
- Financial statements, tax returns and bank statements
- Insurance details
