If you've been eyeing your neighbour’s property, anticipating that it might soon be up for sale, now is the time to start preparing.

Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA), Regional Area Manager for the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Tegan McBride advises producers to take a strategic approach when considering purchasing land.

"If you've got an inkling that the neighbour's property is going to sell soon and you want to access QRIDA’s financial support, start lining your ducks up by having a conversation with me,” Tegan suggested.Tegan's top four tips when preparing to purchase land

Being proactive with your preparation will ensure a smooth process when applying for assistance through QRIDA.

Tegan’s top four recommendations when preparing to purchase land are:

  1. Analyse the tonnage and hectares the property is producing. Understanding these figures is crucial in determining if the land will support or enhance your current operations.

  2. Know your price limit. Assess how much security or equity you have available to support the purchase.

  3. Define your business strategy clearly with a business plan. Determine the tonnage that would position you viably and consider how the new property aligns with your long-term goals.

  4. Look into concessional loans available from QRIDA. If you’re looking for financial support from QRIDA, start reviewing the QRIDA loan guidelines and drafting your application form.

By starting the conversation early and organising your plans strategically, you can ensure that you are ready to seize the opportunity when it arises.

“As your local Regional Area Manager, I’m here to help you through QRIDA’s application process, I can answer questions about eligibility criteria, the application process and help you prepare for achieving your business goals,” she said.
